Born in Shanghai, Weiwei Xu is a composer & sound artist. She focuses on different aspects in composition: instrumental timbre, recorded sounds, improvisation, and design temporal structure, thinking within and beyond the conventional - rationality, sensitivity, fragility, spontaneousness, and indeterminacy.

Weiwei studied composition with Peter Edwards at the National University of Singapore - Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, with Klaus Lang and Beat Furrer at the Kunstuniversität Graz.

Her music compositions have been realized and performed in Singapore, Germany, Austria, Norway, Spain and China (Shanghai) in various contemporary and new music event, including ECLAT - SÜDSAITENACHTS, 200 JAHRE BEWEGTE LUFT, INVISIBLE DRIVE #5, FACERE CITY TOUR, FACERE IN MARIATROST, HERE AND NOW AND ANYPLACE ELSE, STIKK INNOM FESTIVAL, szene instrumental ''GRAZER URAUFFÜHRUNG 8'', MESSAGE MUSIC, HOWEVER RELATING, BETWEEN FEATHERS - CHANGING LIGHTS, VERTIXE SONORA LATEXOS DA AUGA, MUSIKPROTOKOLL 2021 - ENSEMBLE ZEITFLUSS CONCERT, KONTRAPUNK!...

She has worked as project manager, curating projects corresponding to the exhibition Voice of Things (co. with Pompidou Centre) at the West Bund Museum. She did some gigs with score engraving & assistant.
